Pontoppidan Parken

Pontoppidan Parken is a housing project in Valby, constructed as a three-winged residential block, surrounding a common, east-facing garden area. The building varies in height from four to six stories, effectively breaking the building down in scale compared to its surroundings. A vertical recess marks this variation.

The building project is constructed in soft-molded, yellow brick with black window frames. Balustrades and balconies of galvanized steel function as decorative exterior motives which form a disruptive element in the long, streamlined façade. The north-facing façade has balconettes, which are developed with a recess motif along with the placement of the windows. The city’s traditional mansards inspired the profile of the roof, which is developed as a rooftop dressed in zinc.
