Svanemølleholm

Svanemølleholm 6.7 is a new office building centrally located in Nordhavn, one of Copenhagen’s fastest-developing districts, where the city’s urban fabric meets the coastal landscape. The building occupies a prominent position within the masterplan, with active facades towards Sundkrogsgade, Holmegade, and the new neighbourhood square. Its placement strengthens connections to the surrounding urban life and nearby green spaces such as Kranparken, while contributing to a lively and safe streetscape.

The building is organised as a classic city block enclosing a green, light-filled atrium that forms the project’s internal gathering point. The ground floor is set back from the main façade and articulated as an open colonnade, creating a generous transition between building and public space. Publicly oriented functions activate the ground level and open the building towards the city, ensuring life and activity throughout the day and into the evening.

The architectural expression is defined by a continuous grid motif that gives the façades calmness, rhythm, and coherence. The material palette combines dark green tones in glossy glazed brick and matte surfaces with warm timber elements and gold-nuanced details. The dialogue between the rigorous grid and more tactile materials adds depth and human scale, while clearly relating the building to Nordhavn’s architectural context.

The uppermost level is characterised by a recessed, organic geometry clad in lighter materials, allowing for roof terraces of varying depth and use. These terraces provide attractive outdoor spaces with views across the city and harbour, while giving the building an elegant and well-balanced presence in the urban landscape. Internally, the office floors are designed with a high degree of flexibility, enabling the building to adapt to the continually changing needs of its users.

The surrounding landscape is conceived as a green and welcoming urban environment, with active edge zones, small niches for prolonged stay, and varied planting. Native species, robust paving, and reused materials anchor the project in the site’s history and strengthen the area’s natural qualities. Together, architecture, urban life, and landscape are brought together in a coherent whole that supports both everyday use and the long-term development of Nordhavn.
