The AON corporate headquarters is an add-on to the former B&W administration property, and is commonly known as the sutler’s building (marketenderibygning in Danish) as it rests on the foundation of the old sutler’s hall. With this unique background story, and with an entrance straight in front of the church Christianskirken, the new building is written into a particular part of Copenhagen’s architectural history.
Air and light from Christianshavn pour into the building’s atrium. The building’s inside is bound together by interior stairwells and the open environment between the two stories ensures a visual cohesion throughout the building. The second story is an interjected floor which provides parts of the first floor with two times the height and unique lighting.
